John Janiec is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law. He has over 40 years of experience as a practicing attorney.  

Mr. Janiec served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Major Offense Bureau of the Bronx County District Attorney’s office where he was involved in grand jury presentations, and in prosecuting the most serious crimes committed by repeat offenders. 

Following his departure from service in the District Attorney’s Office, he was a partner in a firm comprised of former prosecutors with a heavy emphasis on criminal defense. 

As a defense counsel, he has represented clients charged with a wide variety of crimes, ranging from crimes of violence such as murder, assault, arson, and robbery, to economic crimes involving charges of grand larceny. During the course of his career, he has tried over 100 criminal cases to verdict. 

On the appellate level, he has prepared and argued criminal appeals before the New York State Court of Appeals and the Appellate Divisions of the state Supreme Court.  

At present, attorney Janiec provides legal representation in a wide variety of both civil and criminal litigated matters in both the state and federal courts. He recently served as counsel to a Chinese based trading company in a RICO action brought by the US subsidiary of a Chinese state-owned company in the United States federal court. He also provides counsel to small to mid-size businesses in the New York City Metropolitan area with respect to business transactions and compliance matters. 

John Janiec is admitted to practice before the State Bar of New York, the State Bar of New Jersey, and the United States District Courts: The Southern District of New York, The Eastern District of New York, and The District of New Jersey. Mr. Janiec is also admitted to practice in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.  

For well over 20 years, Mr. Janiec has held and maintained an “AV Preeminent” rating from the Martindale-Hubbell rating agency. He has been awarded for legal knowledge, analytical capabilities, judgment, communication abilities, and legal experience.
